My name is Jaci and I have joined YWAM Ships Kona as a Dental Assistant, working in Papua New Guinea.
It all started when I was eleven years old and I first heard the call of the Lord on my life to missions. While I never specifically felt called to Papua New Guinea, I knew that God gave me the desire to meet people’s physical needs along with their spiritual needs. I felt God was leading me to YWAM Ships Kona, a ministry with a heart for the South Pacific, and knew I needed to trust him. I felt the call on my life and I said yes.
I feel like it’s important to see people as they are, while providing care such as fixing a toothache as part of being the hands and feet of Jesus. It’s my heart to show the Lord’s love through this action. I love Jesus because he sees people in their brokenness. He loves us so well that it’s overwhelming and I just want to be a carrier of that love.
A part of my testimony is that I used to struggle with anxiety. This really broke me because it changed how I viewed myself and how others viewed me. Anxiety kept me from fully walking in freedom and in who I am in Christ.
God has set me free from that struggle and It’s so freeing to be able to walk through life knowing that He has me and He loves me. I want to share the Lord’s peace with the people of Papua New Guinea, the same peace that He’s given me through my journey with Him. If dental care opens the door for me to meet the people that He wants to reach, then I want to go.
