12 weeks at Port YWAM Kona. 12 weeks of listening and learning.
Students from many nations came to learn about God. People started hearing truth and they started stepping into who God created them to be.
You don’t have to be a Bible scholar or even have read the Bible to do a Discipleship Training School (DTS). It’s for anyone who wants to grow in their understanding of who God is.
The responses from students are just a snapshot of what many experience when they go through the lecture phase of DTS. Their answers ranged from “Stretching” to “Messy” to “Excellent and Life Changing.”
Here’s how the students responded when asked, “How would you best describe your overall experience as a student at Port YWAM Kona?”
“Awesome – Messy – Redemptive – Beautiful – Fun – Family – YES! So Good!” – Ashley, Canada
“I loved how we were all a big family here. I felt safe and needed and truly like people wanted me here and loved me.” – Annaliesa, USA
“I am well cared for here. The smaller groups make it easier to grow closer as a group. Amazing location.” – Emilia, Finland
“I really liked being a student here at Port YWAM. I like that we had a family community down here, but also got to see some of the UofN.” – Marie, Norway
“It allowed me to grow as a man of God. I transformed many thought patterns and it helped me build a very real relationship with God.” – Chad, Canada
God continues to amaze us as He shows up to reach anyone willing to give Him a chance. Even if the material taught is the same, all students were affected in different ways.
DTS, unlike other courses you may take in your life, can have a lasting impact. What you learn in the classroom can be applied to your life after you complete your DTS.
Students were also asked, “What are you taking from Ships DTS that will be lived throughout your life?”
Here’s some of the responses:
“Trusting God’s voice, listening to God’s voice and searching for his voice. Love for evangelism. Motivation to live a godly life. FREEDOM through God & through His gospel.” – Johannes, Germany
“That it is possible to work with 31 other people who came from different cultures, ideas, and opinions and easily do what God is calling us to do.” – Annaliesa, USA
“Walking in the fear of the Lord & not fear of man. Listening to God’s voice. Evangelism. Discipline (quiet times in the morning).” – Ethan, USA
“I’d rather err on the side of it maybe being God’s voice and obey, then not being obedient. To be ALL in, not just the times and parts of my life I think are convenient.” – Chanae, USA
“A LOT! This is a broad question with a big answer! I will start walking in what God is calling me into. I will continue to be discipled and eventually want to go into leadership to disciple others. All from knowing who I am in Christ!” – Ashley, Canada
For those still doubting the changes that happen when you do a DTS, come see for yourself. We have Discipleship Training Schools running 4 times a year. There’s a new one starting right around the corner.
